Privacy Policy
Last updated September 28, 2026
This policy explains, in plain language, what Legal Velocity AI collects when you visit this website or use LVAI Pro, why, who processes it for us, and how long we keep it.
The short version
Legal Velocity's server receives only the names of the skills, scripts and templates the plugin asks for, and counts them. Your documents stay in your Claude workspace. Case-law lookups go to Midpage or Descrybe under your own account — the citations and the sentences that cite them, never the whole document unless you ask.
What we hold is what it takes to sell, license and support LVAI Pro: who you are, your license and billing status, and counts of what your seats asked our server for.
For the whole path, hop by hop — what Claude, your research service, the public statute pages Claude opens, our server, Stripe and Resend each receive and keep, and what their own published terms say — see Where your data goes.
What we collect
- Account details — the name, email address and firm name you provide at checkout or when a license is issued, and the names you assign to seats.
- Payment — handled by Stripe. We do not receive or store card numbers; we receive the subscription status, invoices and payment events Stripe reports to us.
- Usage records — when a seat uses a command, our connector records your license and the seat, the tool used, the name of the skill, script or template requested (as the request spelled it, up to 200 characters), the time, and whether the request was served — with the reason or error message, if it was not. They support licensing (including the fair-use limit in our Terms), security and support, and never contain your documents or your questions.
- Connection dates — when your license first connected, and when each seat last connected, so that we can tell whether a seat has been set up.
- The free-trial check — to keep the free trial to one per person or firm, we store the email address the trial was started with, the network (IP) address the request came from, and the card fingerprint Stripe gives us: a code Stripe derives from the card so that the same card can be recognised again. It is not the card number, which we never receive or store. The network address is also attached to the trial's checkout at Stripe, so that the finished checkout can be matched to the trial request. These records are kept to prevent repeat trials. The trial form and the newsletter sign-up form also keep a short-lived count of requests per network address (deleted within two days) so that nobody can flood them.
- Cancellation reasons and survey answers — if you cancel, we keep the reason you chose in the billing portal and, if you answer our short follow-up survey, your answer and any comment you write, so that we can follow up and improve the product.
- Email preferences — whether you have unsubscribed from our marketing email (kept so that we keep honouring it), and, if you signed up for our weekly tips and confirmed by email, that subscription.
- Support messages — what you write to us.
- Server logs — our server writes short operational messages, such as an email that could not be delivered or a billing update that failed, identified by license number, with email addresses masked or removed. Cloudflare's request-by-request logs are switched off. They never contain your documents or your questions.
What we do not collect
Your documents, client files, research questions and conversations with Claude are not sent to us. The connector delivers instructions, scripts and templates to Claude; it does not receive the contents of your work. Those contents remain in your Claude account, subject to Anthropic's terms and privacy policy, and case-law lookups are subject to the policy of the legal-research provider you connect (Midpage or Descrybe). The verification ledger the research commands write — a hidden .lvai folder in your case folder — stays on your computer.
How we use information
- To provide and license the Service — issuing seats, checking licenses, counting usage, detecting misuse such as shared license keys, and keeping the free trial to one per person or firm.
- To send you what you need — your setup guide, receipts, notices about your license and billing, and replies to support requests. These service emails go to every customer. A copy of each setup guide also goes to our own mailbox, so that we can help with setup.
- To keep in touch — we keep a record of each customer and trial user in our customer-relationship system, Attio (name, email address, firm, license, plan, seats, paid-through date and status), and place each address in one of three email lists at our email provider, Resend: customers, trial users, or former customers. We use these lists for product announcements, reminders and similar marketing email. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link; unsubscribing stops them and does not affect your license or its service emails.
- To invite attorneys — we keep a list of attorneys' public professional contact details (a name and the professional email address the attorney publishes) and may send each person a single invitation to try LVAI Pro. It is an invitation only, never a subscription: anyone who replies "no thanks" or uses the opt-out link in it is never contacted again, and customers, subscribers and anyone who has opted out are skipped.
We do not sell personal information and do not use it for advertising.
Service providers
We rely on these companies, and each processes data only as needed to provide its service to us:
- Stripe — payments, invoices, the billing portal, and the free-trial check (the card fingerprint, and the network address attached to a trial's checkout).
- Cloudflare — hosting of the license service, its database and its server logs.
- Resend — delivery of our emails, and the email lists described above.
- Attio — our customer-relationship system.
- Replit — hosting of this website, including its analytics.
- Google — the fonts on this website (Google Fonts), and our own mailbox, from which support replies and attorney invitations are sent.
Analytics and cookies
This website runs no advertising or tracking of its own. Two things reach other companies when you open a page: the hosting provider's analytics script, which counts visits to the pages, and the website's fonts, which your browser loads from Google Fonts (so Google receives your network address). The public pages set no cookies of their own. The only session anywhere on the site is the sign-in session of the owner's private console, which only Legal Velocity uses; it lasts until that browser tab is closed, at most 12 hours.
How long we keep it
- Usage records — 90 days, then deleted automatically.
- Connection dates — kept with your license record.
- Server logs — at most 7 days, at Cloudflare.
- License and billing records — while your account exists, and afterwards for 7 years, for tax records.
- Free-trial check records — as long as they are needed to prevent repeat trials; a trial attempt that never reached checkout is deleted after two days.
- Our log of emails sent — 90 days.
- Unsubscribe requests — kept, so that we keep honouring them.
Your choices
- Update your card, change seats or cancel from the billing portal at any time —
/licensein Claude shows the link on the primary seat. - Unsubscribe from marketing email with the link at the foot of any of them.
- Ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy (an export) of your records, or ask us to delete them: email admin@legalvelocity.ai. We delete what we are not required to keep; records we must keep for tax purposes are deleted when that period ends.
